If you have experience in the driver manager field and would like to be a part of our team, please see qualifications below: The Fleet Manager serves as the driver's supervisor/representative in Operations. This role involves managing drivers' performance in identified categories and being the primary communication link to drivers, working to achieve optimum driver and customer satisfaction.

Requirements

  • 2-year degree in a related field.
  • 3 years of experience in transportation.
  • Demonstrates decision-making ability with little supervision.
  • Intermediate user ability for Microsoft Excel.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of TMW Database software.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Outlook.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the sole communications link to drivers, including load information, advances, purchase orders, maintenance coordination, performance counseling, and dissemination of general company news.
  • Manage an assigned full board of tractors and drivers, ensuring effective management for optimum performance.
  • Ensure data entry accuracy, with a target of 97% accuracy.
  • Maintain driver turnover within the ideal range, preventing it from exceeding 115%.
  • Monitor utilization and mileage, aiming for 310-326 MPU.
  • Communicate customer expectations to drivers to minimize service failures.
  • Oversee overall safety, including hours of service, unsafe driving, and CSA scores.
  • Ensure drivers are current on preventative maintenance for their trucks.
  • Update drivers on road conditions and restrictions as communicated by the Safety Department.
  • Communicate timely with HR regarding drivers' medical conditions or attendance issues.
  • Handle driver complaints and ensure they are escalated appropriately.
  • Collaborate with Load Planners and other Fleet Managers to plan future workloads.
  • Work with Service and Breakdown departments to maintain equipment and meet service schedules.
  • Think strategically and plan ahead of rapidly changing situations while maintaining a positive team-oriented attitude.
  • Maintain a positive attitude with co-workers and supervisors.
