Job overview and responsibilities Serve as the Subject Matter Expert and advocate for the overall technical and operational reliability performance and compile, maintain and execute a strategic roadmap, whilst providing engagement & support to a variety of internal and external stakeholders to define & support strategic long term reliability initiatives. The position is responsible for rallying industry support to drive prioritization within OEMs and glean best practices from other operators. As the aircraft fleet focal, required to solve complex problems across various organizations and communicate quarterly performance on key operational and technical performance indicators, top reliability drivers, cost drivers, opportunities and threats, mandatory and discretionary engineering projects & major fleet issues (e.g. ORI) Solutions: Develop strategies for execution of initiatives to drive overall fleet performance Manage and review Fleet top D&C reliability drivers, PIREPs, and OOS, working with key stakeholders to drive solutions and compile, maintain and execute a strategic roadmap Guides and prioritizes the work performed by other departments within United Airlines including Maintenance, Planning, Supply Chain, Engineering, and others Demonstrate the Closed Loop Reliability Process in all mitigations and make recommendations based on mitigation performance Own and prioritize the list of Engineering EAs and develops a 3- and 5-year aircraft operational cost model to aid in budgeting and reliability strategy Corporate Communication: Own Senior Leadership+ Level fleet reliability meetings and compile and present performance reviews on key operational and technical performance indicators, top reliability drivers, cost drivers, opportunities and threats, mandatory and discretionary engineering projects, major issues and action items to executive leadership Compile and maintain white papers / newsletters on top driving issues / leadership requests to ensure unity in communication Industry: Be the point-of-contact for the fleet externally & represent United’s interests on various industry committees and interface with OEM activities related to the fleet type, whilst understanding and anticipating current and emerging global issues for the assigned fleet Rally industry support to drive prioritization within OEMs and represent United’s voice in collaboration / sharing of best practices amongst operators Lead OEM Technical & Executive reviews to drive external stakeholder / OEM action to address top reliability drivers Tactical & Operational: Identify and mitigate events / series of events that lead to a critical outcome / interruption (ORI events, Fix Effectiveness concerns, UTO / ORM events etc.), and provide comprehensive and conclusive, fact-based analysis and recommendations of events and series of events that lead to the impactful item Own Planned Reliability Visits (eg RMV) end-to-end to identify, plan work scope, facilitate execution and report on effectiveness and progress NOTE: This position is located at the CSC-Willis Tower in Chicago IL and considered as a hybrid role working 3 days in office, however that may evolve with the needs of the company.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical / Aerospace)
  • 5+ year of relevant experience
  • Must have experience with Fleet Management, OEM Relationship Management, Aircraft troubleshooting, Reliability Engineering, Data Analytics, Predictive Maintenance Analysis, Project Management, Maintenance Planning, and Cross-Divisional Change Management
  • Technical Operations, Flight Operations, Aircraft system level design knowledge, Predictive Maintenance
  • Executive level presentation skills
  • Complex problem solving, strong emotional intelligence, project management, change management
  • Communication & collaboration skills across varying levels within the company with the ability to take complex information and convey simply and logically
  • Business Acumen
  • Expertise in risk management and mitigation strategies
  • Highly proficient skills in Indirect influence
  • Must be willing and able to travel 20-30% domestic/international
  • Must be willing and able to work hybrid at the CSC-Willis Tower in Chicago IL 3 days a week
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States for any employer without sponsorship
  • Successful completion of interview required to meet job qualification
  • Reliable, punctual attendance is an essential function of the position

Nice To Haves

  • Master's degree in Aerospace Engineering
  • Private Pilot, SixSigma Belt, A&P, PMP, CRE (Certified Reliability Engineer)
