The mission of this position is to diagnose, adjust, repair, and maintain all company diesel trucks and trailers. The role involves inspecting brake systems, steering mechanisms, wheel bearings, and other important parts to ensure they are in proper operating condition. The technician will use hand tools such as screwdrivers, pliers, wrenches, pressure gauges, and precision instruments, as well as power tools such as pneumatic wrenches, lathes, welding equipment, and jacks and hoists. Responsibilities include adjusting and relining brakes, aligning wheels, tightening bolts and screws, and reassembling equipment. The technician will also examine and adjust protective guards, loose bolts, and specified safety devices, perform routine maintenance such as changing oil, checking batteries, and lubricating equipment and machinery, and repair and maintain company trailers. The technician is expected to complete all truck repairs less than complete engine overhauls, embrace Purcell’s culture of safety, maintain standards of cleanliness, orderliness, and appearance of the maintenance shed, protect company assets, and maintain regular attendance in accordance with the assigned schedule. The role requires the ability to perform physical requirements as listed in the job description and may include other essential and non-essential duties as assigned by management.
