As the Fleet Maintenance Director, you will assist in keeping that commitment by ensuring that the Company’s vehicle maintenance programs are executed in an efficient, safe and economical manner by providing leadership, and coordinating and directing employee activities engaged in servicing and repairing equipment and vehicles assigned to the Company. Buchheit Logistics, Inc. (BLI) is an asset based Third Party Logistics (3PL) provider with a focus in trucking and warehousing. BLI operates 120 tractor company owned and independent contractor fleet serving the dry van and bulk fleet transportation sectors, with a couple of unique trailers outside that scope. BLI also serves local and remote locations with class 1 through class 8 trucks used in customer and last mile deliveries. Be able to demonstrate knowledge of the following: principles, methods and practices pertaining to the supervision of fleet maintenance and repair operations, including trailer equipment; implementation of fleet operational goals, objectives, policies and procedures; tools, lubricants, equipment and procedures used in servicing, overhauling, repairing and adjusting a variety of power-driven equipment and varied trailer types. Have significant work experience in the following: accurate record keeping; research and cost reporting procedures; budgeting; inventory control and parts acquisition; use of automated equipment maintenance systems used in generating work orders, parts utilization reports and labor productivity; successful negotiation and on-going management of outside vendors (i.e., body shops). Requirements

  • Have a record of experience in increasing responsibility in fleet maintenance; with at least 3 years’ experience in the supervision and management of fleet maintenance operations.
  • Be able to demonstrate knowledge of the following: principles, methods and practices pertaining to the supervision of fleet maintenance and repair operations, including trailer equipment; implementation of fleet operational goals, objectives, policies and procedures; tools, lubricants, equipment and procedures used in servicing, overhauling, repairing and adjusting a variety of power-driven equipment and varied trailer types.
  • Have significant work experience in the following: accurate record keeping; research and cost reporting procedures; budgeting; inventory control and parts acquisition; use of automated equipment maintenance systems used in generating work orders, parts utilization reports and labor productivity; successful negotiation and on-going management of outside vendors (i.e., body shops).
  • High school diploma or G.E.D.
  • MO Class E License required (CDL A preferred).
  • Strong customer service and organizational skills required.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, fleet maintenance software and web-based applications.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Skill in multi-tasking, time management, prioritization, and attention to detail.
  • Ability to adapt to changing organizational and operational needs.
  • Strong leadership, organizational, problem-solving skills, and team player who is able to work across multiple departments and divisions across the company. functions and disciplines.
  • Able to stand, stoop, bend, and crouch on a regular basis or for long periods of time.
  • Able to climb staircases.
  • Able to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Able to perform all essential job functions.

Responsibilities

  • Directs fleet preventive maintenance and repair programs for all company owned vehicles, trailers, and associated equipment, electronics and systems. Oversee preventative, predictive, and corrective maintenance programs.
  • Establish maintenance standards, procedures, and preventative maintenance programs.
  • Reviews completed repair and maintenance work for timeliness, completeness, accuracy and quality.
  • Uses data analytics, reporting tools and KPIs to identify potential vehicle maintenance data and deficiencies, identify trends, root causes, and improvement opportunities.
  • Manages the development and success of warranty and policy programs for recovery of expenses.
  • Apprises fleet performance and maintenance costs. Makes presentations and prepares reports as requested.
  • Reviews and makes recommendations on scope of work and specifications for major procurements related to fleet maintenance.
  • Assures departmental compliance with Department of Transportation (DOT) and Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FCSA) regulations.
  • Assures departmental compliance with Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) regulations as well as state and federal laws and company procedures and policies for work safe practices.
  • Lead, develop, and manage the maintenance team, including hiring, training, performance management, and succession planning.
  • Promote a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Respond to critical equipment failures and emergency repairs as needed.
