This class is responsible for diagnosing mechanical problems and repairing a variety of equipment including trucks, construction vehicles and equipment. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, performing all mechanic repairs/overhauling engines/clutches/brakes/steering/differentials/transmissions and related mechanical units/parts; disassembling motors; repairing/replacing parts/defective wiring for ignition/lighting systems; re-assembling/adjusting/testing repaired equipment; adjusting/realigning brakes; rebuilding alternators/starters; driving/operating vehicles in performing work assignments/responsibilities. Operates under supervision of the Fleet Shop Supervisor, in accordance with established policies and procedures. Extended hours, call back and on call availability are required. Performs related work as required.
