About The Position

The Fleet Field Technician is responsible for performing maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs on a variety of vehicles and equipment in the field. This role requires a high degree of technical expertise and the ability to work independently. The Fleet Field Technician will travel to job sites to address mechanical issues, ensuring minimal downtime and maximum efficiency for fleet operations.

Requirements

  • High school or equivalent diploma/GED and minimum 5 years' experience in medium/heavy duty truck repair or similar fields.
  • Fluent in English; Bi-lingual Spanish is a plus.
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record; CDL preferred.
  • Ability to work independently and possess good critical thinking skills.
  • Must be a good representative of the company and perform duties ethically.
  • Available to work overtime as needed, including weekends.
  • Knowledge and experience with Ford Power Stroke and GM Duramax diesel engines.
  • Basic computer skills and organizational abilities.
  • Must furnish own tools and work boots; specialized tools provided by the company.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment under pressure.
  • Good attention to detail and ability to follow instructions.
  • Professional demeanor and customer service skills.
  • Basic knowledge of automotive/diesel systems and minimum 1-year experience in a shop environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Associates or Trade school degree in automotive or diesel repair.
  • ASE certifications / Air Conditioning 609 certification.
  • Welding certifications.
  • Qualified to perform BIT / DOT inspections.
  • Brake Certifications for air systems.
  • Desire for training and career growth.
  • Experience in operating floor jacks and changing tires.
  • Experience in performing lube, oil, and filter changes.

Responsibilities

  • Travels between facilities and projects to perform maintenance and repairs.
  • Diagnoses and repairs various construction equipment and on-highway utility trucks and trailers using basic and specialty test equipment.
  • Troubleshoots and replaces components in hydraulic systems.
  • Repairs complex wiring for systems such as utility booms, chassis, and engine wiring.
  • Performs basic fabrication and welding using MIG, ARC, OXY Acetylene, and other tools.
  • Conducts preventative maintenance and BIT / DOT inspections.
  • Raises trucks, trailers, or other equipment using hydraulic or air-assisted jacks or hoists.
  • Replaces worn or defective brake components and performs tire replacements.
  • Diagnoses and repairs air conditioning systems.
  • Completes and submits all paperwork accurately and timely.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
