About The Position

At Hi-Way Paving, we are general contractors in the construction field that specialize in significant amounts of concrete paving, storm drainage, and excavation on highways and airfields. The Fleet Data & Inventory Analyst is an entry-level role supporting our Maintenance Shop Manager as we build and operate a new, in-house maintenance shop from the ground up. This position plays a key role in establishing accurate fleet data, parts inventory tracking, and cost visibility for all heavy equipment and paving equipment maintained internally. This role is ideal for recent graduates in Construction Management, Engineering, Supply Chain, or related fields who are looking for hands-on exposure to heavy equipment, maintenance operations, and data-driven decision-making within a growing heavy civil construction environment. This position will be based in Charlotte, North Carolina.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Supply Chain, Business, or related field (or equivalent experience)
  • Entry-level to 2 years of experience in operations support, data tracking, inventory, or related roles
  • Strong interest in construction equipment, maintenance operations, or fleet management
  • Solid analytical and organizational skills with strong attention to detail
  • Comfortable working with data, spreadsheets, and inventory or fleet management systems
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with technicians, purchasing staff, and shop leadership
  • Willingness to learn processes, ask questions, and adapt in a fast-paced shop environment
  • Ability to be available for occasional travel to fleet sites, vendors, or remote locations as needed.
  • Ability to gain clearance for restricted/high-security zones (e.g., airport AOA, military bases).
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Physical ability to lift 50 lbs., climb, walk, kneel, squat, push, pull, and enter confined spaces.
  • Must be at least 18 years old to meet job-site safety and labor requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Accurately record, update, and maintain fleet operations data and parts inventory information.
  • Track vehicle performance metrics and monitor maintenance-related data.
  • Monitor parts usage and ensure inventory levels are accurate and current.
  • Verify all data entries for completeness, accuracy, and consistency.
  • Identify and correct discrepancies in fleet or parts records.
  • Collaborate with technicians, purchasing staff, and fleet managers to support operational workflow.
  • Help maintain efficient fleet operations by ensuring timely and organized data management.
  • Utilize fleet management software and inventory systems to input and track information.
  • Build and maintain cost and usage databases to support budgeting, forecasting, and cost-analysis efforts.
  • Maintain a high level of attention to detail in a fast-paced environment.
