About The Position

The Flavors Innovation Scientist will play a crucial role in developing innovative sweet, beverage, and savory products for Sensient's flavor technologies. Reporting to the Innovation Manager, this position focuses on supporting business growth by leveraging expertise in food and beverage product development, while also engaging with customers and internal teams to communicate product features and benefits effectively.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Food Science/Food Technology, Chemistry, or related technical area.
  • 2-5 years of food and/or flavor industry product development experience.
  • An accomplished understanding of flavors and flavor technologies.
  • Demonstrated ability to formulate finished products.
  • Knowledge of pertinent processes, regulatory guidelines, and sensory testing.
  • Outstanding communication and the ability to deliver formal presentations.
  • Organized, innovative team player who is self-driven and a motivated multitasker.
  • Excellent collaborator (internally and externally) with experience working cross-functionally.
  • A working knowledge of appropriate computer software applications.

Responsibilities

  • Create sweet, beverage, and savory products to demonstrate Sensient's taste and technology portfolio.
  • Communicate project statuses to the Innovation Manager.
  • Identify and test new flavor technologies to provide innovative solutions addressing industry issues.
  • Accompany Account Representatives on customer calls to educate customers on company strengths and capabilities.
  • Assist in providing customer solutions for their product and process challenges.
  • Provide technical support for Sensient's Application Labs.
  • Identify and test products for stability and shelf life.
  • Run equipment in the Pilot Plant and test new products.
  • Stay current with industry trends and scientific discoveries, following current literature and monitoring online and paper trade magazines.
  • Participate in scheduled sensory panels.
  • Maintain application data in a timely and accurate fashion.
  • Utilize computer system capabilities for selection and screening of flavor/flavor enhancement systems.
  • Potentially visit customers and assist with new Sensient technologies product launches.
