Unlike traditional over-the-road roles, this position is focused on supporting our local warehouse operations. Requirements

  • Licensing: Valid CDL Class A Driver's License is required.
  • Experience: 2 years of recent flatbed trucking experience is preferred.
  • Technical Skill: Ability to drive both manual and automatic transmission commercial trucks.
  • Safety Record: Satisfactory MVR (Motor Vehicle Record) and PSP scores.
  • Physical Requirements: Must be able to stand, bend, walk, chain material, and lift a minimum of 50 lbs. for the duration of the shift.
  • Education: High School Diploma or equivalent is preferred.
  • Detail Oriented: Strong attention to detail regarding load securement and vehicle inspections.

Responsibilities

  • Yard & Shuttle Operations: Safely move loaded and unloaded flatbed trailers within the warehouse yard and shuttle material back and forth between warehouses located on the same block.
  • Pre/Post-Trip Inspections: Visually inspect the commercial vehicle and flatbed trailer daily; this includes checking equipment for defective parts and documenting findings.
  • Physical Maneuverability: Ability to safely enter and exit the tractor using steps and handrails, as well as maneuvering onto and off of flatbed trailers.
  • Vehicle Operation: Ability to operate a commercial motor vehicle using steering wheel, pedals, clutch, and shifter for both automatic and manual transmissions.
  • Load Securement: Walk to the trailer to secure loads to the trailer deck.
  • Grasp and securely attach chains, straps, and other load securement equipment for safe transit.
  • Carry and place 4"x4"x8' hardwood dunnage on and off trailers.
  • Physical Labor: Must be able to push, pull, and lift a minimum of 50 lbs. to ensure loads are properly secured or un-secured.
  • Documentation: Walk from the tractor to the warehouse office to process and receive necessary paperwork.
  • Safety Standards: Maintain a safe and clean working environment by complying with all company procedures, federal rules, and safety regulations.
