Job Summary: The Flatbed Carrier Sales Representative position develops and continuously builds long-term partnerships with carriers in providing outstanding service to Syfan Logistics’ customers. The performance of the carrier sales representative function is vital to Syfan Logistics’ ability to withstand volatility in the market. Negotiates and covers available and open freight. Collaborates with the operations team in a highly responsive, fast paced environment. The Core Competencies for this position are: Customer Service Excellence: Performs duties and demonstrates behaviors consistent with Syfan Logistics’ commitment to customer service. TMS Proficiency: Utilizes Syfan Logistics’ transportation management systems and other logistics technologies in executing the duties of the position. Coordinating Agility & Problem Solving: Demonstrates the ability to adjust to changing load situations as required and is able to proactively identify logistics issues with customer loads. Proficiency in Operations Procedures: Performs position specific duties according to the established procedures in meeting Syfan and customer requirements. Team Culture Alignment: Demonstrates interactive skills and behaviors that strengthen the team's ability to perform. Carrier/Customer Relationship Management: Builds and sustains relationships with carriers and/or customers in a manner that engages them in providing the highest level of customer service to grow the business. Summary of Required Skills: Utilization of technology, interpersonal and prioritization skills, and sales specific processes that enhance the customer experience. General to advanced knowledge of the 3PL transportation industry, Flatbeds, trucking routes and equipment. Ability to solve problems and promptly execute decisions. Self-motivated with an entrepreneurial mindset. Intermediate computer skills (i.e. Microsoft Office, customer web sites, keyboard proficiency, etc.). Intermediate to advanced knowledge of the highway systems, major cities, and all states. Strong negotiation skills. Strong attention to details. Effective Utilization of McLeod Sales Functions Strong collaborative and interpersonal team communications skills.

  • Develops and maintains strong relationships with current and prospective Flatbed carriers through persistent contact by phone or email
  • Negotiates competitive rates for freight with Flatbed carriers across various regions
  • Monitors and tracks loads from pickup to delivery, resolves all load issues and takes ownership of any problem situations
  • Works collaboratively with internal Customer Sales, Team Captains and Support team members to ensure customer needs are met
  • Updates logistics management software throughout the day to maintain accuracy in sales and volume data/information
  • Exceeds individual and team sales goals as assigned by management
  • Meets individual productivity goals (ex. phone calls made, total talk time, etc.)
  • Independently plans and manages daily activities
  • Works non-traditional schedule which may include after-hours, off shifts or weekends

  • High School Diploma/GED equivalent
  • 2 years of Flatbed carrier customer sales experience in 3PL transportation/freight sales
  • 1 year of experience with 3PL dispatching and route management
  • Bachelor’s Degree in transportation logistics/freight management
  • Certified Transportation Brokerage certification
