About The Position

This position involves providing flagging and traffic control services at assigned construction sites to ensure public and crew safety. It is an hourly, non-exempt role that operates under direct and indirect supervision. Key functions include performing all aspects of flagging in various road conditions (intersections, two-lane, multi-lane, divided, and limited access highways) in accordance with State and company safety regulations. The role requires clear, firm, and courteous communication with drivers, constant awareness of construction hazards, and proper care of equipment. The Flagperson must be available for various job site locations and frequently work more than 40 hours per week, including non-traditional hours like night shifts, Saturdays, and Sundays. This is a safety-sensitive position.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of PennDOT regulations for traffic control
  • Ability to control signaling devices (such as paddles and flags)
  • Ability to use company radio equipment to provide clear and positive guidance
  • Ability to remain attentive for extended periods of time
  • Ability to learn and follow GOH company policies and procedures
  • Ability to work under direct and indirect supervision
  • Ability to walk long distances
  • Ability to work with a team
  • Must be courteous, cooperative, and patient
  • Must be available to travel and have dependable transportation
  • Must be adaptable to last minute schedule changes
  • No previous experience required
  • Must maintain Flagger Training in accordance with PennDOT guidelines

Nice To Haves

  • Prefer valid driver's license for the state in which you reside with acceptable driving record per company minimum standards for drivers
  • Prefer High School diploma or equivalent

Responsibilities

  • Provide flagging/traffic control services at assigned construction site to ensure public and crew safety
  • Perform all functions of flagging including but not limited to working in intersections, two-lane, multi-lane, divided and limited access highways in accordance with State and company safety regulations and procedures to ensure traffic proceeds smoothly and in a timely fashion while ensuring public and crew safety
  • Communicate specific instructions clearly, firmly and courteously to drivers approaching a temporary traffic control zone in frequently changing situations
  • Ensure that all flagging equipment is in good condition at all times
  • Constantly be aware of the potential hazards present when working around construction equipment and the motoring public
  • Exercise proper care and maintenance of equipment
  • Arrive for start time to various job site locations
  • Frequently work more than 40 hours per week and non-traditional hours including night shift, Saturdays and Sundays
  • Perform additional assignments per supervisor's direction
