About The Position

Western Engineering Co Inc is seeking an experienced and safety-focused Flagger Lead to join our road construction team. In this essential role, you will be responsible for leading a team of flaggers who will direct traffic safely around construction zones to ensure the safety of drivers, pedestrians, and work crews. Your primary duties will involve setting up traffic control devices, communicating effectively with flaggers, and maintaining a safe work environment at all times. You will play a critical role in maintaining the flow of traffic and ensuring that construction operations proceed without interruptions. The ideal candidate will possess extensive knowledge of the MUTCD, leadership abilities, a keen attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and a commitment to upholding safety standards. Requirements

• Must possess an active driver's license with a clean driving record
• Physical ability to lift, load and move traffic control devices and signs.

Responsibilities

• Communicate with project managers and construction crews to coordinate and schedule road closures and traffic control for road operations
• Set up and maintain traffic control devices, signs, and cones to guide traffic through construction zones
• Lead the team of flaggers in the construction zone, provide breaks as needed
• Monitor traffic flow and adjust control measures as needed to minimize congestion and enhance safety
• Observe and enforce safety regulations to protect both construction personnel and the public
• Report any incidents or unsafe conditions to supervisors immediately
• Participate in safety meetings and training sessions to stay informed of best practices
