WATKINS GLEN Located within five hours (300 miles) of 25 percent of the U.S. population, Watkins Glen International is the premier road racing facility in North America, three-times voted “Best NASCAR Track” by readers of USA Today. The Glen hosts a diverse portfolio of premier sports car, open wheel and stock car races throughout the year. NASCAR seeks talented professionals to join our event staff team as a Flagger based at Watkins Glen International. This is an event-based position from April 17th - October 25th. Qualifications: Minimum 18 years of age. Good judgment and the ability to think logically; Reliability and punctuality; Knowledge of the Weekday Safety Team Handbook; Stay attentive to observe and report on-track activity at the race track; Ability to work as a team member. Proven job reliability and strong work ethic. Ability to take and follow direction. Exceptional communication skills. Comfortable working in a fast paced, high energy environment. Flexible schedule during the event. Reliable transportation to and from Watkins Glen International Speedway. Flagging Responsibility: Provide safe communication and control of race cars by: Informing drivers through flags and hand signals of the condition of the course and the condition of their cars; Informing the Chief Steward and other officials, through the communications network, of the condition of the course and the competing cars or any other situation that requires a decision of the officials; Taking any proper emergency action needed to protect the lives of the workers, drivers or spectators in the event of an incident; Maintaining a clear course.
