About The Position

Northwest Technical College (NTC) invites applicants to join our team as One Year Fixed-Term Automotive Services Technology Faculty member. The Automotive Service and Performance program at Northwest Technical College features state-of-the-art labs equipped with current service and testing equipment so students are well-prepared to work with today’s technology. Responsibilities of the Automotive Services Technology Faculty member include: Teaching assigned Automotive and related program/courses in accordance with established curriculum and course outlines. Performing technical work within the college setting, assisting learners, and advising students within the program. Participating in college governance, committees and task forces. Maintaining necessary attendance, scholastic and student records, and submits records according to institutional guidelines and ASE requirements. Participating in professional development, hosting advisory board meetings, student and other educational activities in accordance with college policy. Contributing to a program of scholarship within the discipline, student advising, service to the College and community, and other associated faculty duties. Collaborating with college lab assistant.

Requirements

  • Education Requirement Post-secondary diploma or equivalent certificate in automotive services technology.
  • Occupational Experience Requirement Four full-time years (or equivalent) of verified related paid work experience in automotive service technology.
  • Recency Requirement One year of this work experience shall be within the five years immediately preceding the date of application for the credential field. The recency requirement shall be waived if the individual has two years of successful full-time (or equivalent) postsecondary teaching experience in the credential field within the last five years.
  • Professional Requirement Current ASE certification in the areas in which the faculty member is teaching.
  • All applicants must be able to lawfully accept employment in the United States at the time of an offer of employment.
  • Official transcript(s) must be provided to Human Resources upon hire.
  • Employment for this position is covered by the collective bargaining agreement for the Minnesota State College Faculty.
  • In accordance with the Minnesota State Colleges and Universities (MnSCU) Vehicle Fleet Safety Program, faculty and staff driving on college/university business, who use a rental or state vehicle, shall be required to complete a vehicle Use Agreement form and conform to MnSCU's vehicle use criteria and consent to a motor vehicle records check.

Nice To Haves

  • Strong working knowledge of software programs such as Microsoft Office Word, Excel, Access, Outlook, etc.
  • 5+ years experience in automotive.
  • A demonstrated commitment to the principles of diversity, equity, inclusion, and anti-racism.
