The Fixed Route Dispatcher is responsible for ensuring that each driver reports at their scheduled work shift time and arranging coverage for any call-offs within driver staffing. The dispatcher prepares and prints manifests for all operators ten minutes prior to scheduled check-in time, makes bus assignments, and ensures all operators pull out on time. They must supply written documentation of incidents that may require follow-up action, communicate clearly with others both verbally and in writing using the English language, and promptly provide clients with information on location and ETA. The dispatcher makes cost-effective and operationally efficient decisions regarding the assignment or movement of trips, monitors Transit Radio System (TRS) messages, and maintains a Dispatch Communication log while performing various administrative duties such as answering incoming calls and filing.
