About The Position

Please note: This job posting speaks to two different levels based on essential functions, knowledge, skills and abilities. The specific level of position to be offered will be based on applicant screening, assessment score and the relevant qualifications and experience to work performed in the maintenance of fixed plant operational area(s) such as: Crush/Convey, Mill, Hydromet and Shared Services. (This posting represents multiple vacancies in a variety of fixed operational department areas.) Level 4 - Processing Diagnostic Mechanic Description: Highly skilled mechanic who safely performs components of diagnostic, maintenance, installation, replacement and repair of fixed plant operational equipment and related systems. Perform system troubleshooting, maintenance and component removal, repair and installation of jaw and gyratory crushers, vibratory screens, conveyors, dust suppression/collection systems, mobile conveying systems, pump, pit dewatering, hydraulic systems, etc. Perform mechanical and lubrication preventative maintenance such as changing filters in the dust collection systems, checking screens, seals for leakage, oil levels and lubrication systems Preform the removal, repair and installation of piping and pump components, such as: valves, expansion joints and check valves. Prioritize and make decisions regarding equipment repair as needed Responsible for maintaining work orders and performing work area inspections Train and mentor other employees Perform advanced welding and fabrication May operate mobile equipment such as: Forklifts, cranes, and boom trucks Perform as a Fill-in Supervisor as required Perform other duties as required Level 3: Processing Repair Employee Description: Skilled Mechanic who, under supervision, safely performs diagnostic, maintenance, installation and repair of fixed plant operational equipment and related systems. Assists with and performs component removal, repair and installation of jaw and gyratory crushers, vibratory screens, conveyors, dust suppression/collection systems, mobile conveying, pump, pit, dewatering, hydraulic systems, etc. Performs mechanical and lubrication preventative maintenance such as changing filters in the dust collection systems, checking screens, seals for leakage, oil levels and lubrication systems Perform the removal, repair and installation of piping/pump components, such as: valves, expansion joints and check valves. Requirements

  • Two (2) years' experience in mechanical/maintenance crafts (including welder, boilermaker, machinist or facility maintenance/construction) or a combination of education and experience in industrial mechanical repair and maintenance.
  • Must have completed academic and practical competencies required (this includes Line of Progression requirements for internal employees where LOP Exists) and have experience demonstrating the required mechanical aptitude.
  • FPM Diagnostic Mechanic I: The selected candidate shall demonstrate the ability to apply knowledge and technical skills while achieving 35% score on a written assessment where required. This exam is based on technical skills/abilities and/or academic knowledge, as well as safety. Must be able to demonstrate proficient basic welding skills.
  • One (1) year of experience in fixed plant operational mechanical/maintenance or a combination of education and experience in industrial mechanical repair and maintenance
  • Must have completed academic and competencies required (this includes Line of Progression requirements for internal employees) and have experience demonstrating required mechanical aptitude. Selected candidate shall demonstrate ability to apply knowledge and technical skills while also passing a written assessment.
  • Ability to understand and apply verbal and written work and safety-related instructions and procedures given in English
  • Ability to communicate in English with respect to job assignments, job procedures, and applicable safety standards
  • Must be able to work in a potentially stressful environment
  • Will be required to work rotating shifts in a 24/7/365 operation
  • While performing duties of this job, the employee is required to stand, sit, demonstrate manual dexterity, climb stairs and ladders, work on elevated platforms, talk, hear, see and work in confined spaces
  • Occasionally may be asked required to life moderately heavy to heavy objects up to fifty (50) pounds during the course of the workday
  • Personal protective equipment is required when performing work in a mine, outdoor, manufacturing or plant environment, including hard hat, hearing protection, safety glasses, safety footwear, and as needed, respirator, rubber steel-toe boots, protective clothing, gloves and any other protective equipment as required
  • Candidates may be required to pass a medical exam.
  • Candidates must pass all required training and/or testing.
  • Employees may be required to work a non-standard schedule, which may include shift work (other than day shift) at a 24/7, 365-day operation.
