About The Position

About the Role: The Fixed Income Specialist supports the Fixed Income Capital Markets Department by assisting Municipal Underwriters and Public Finance Bankers with due diligence for competitive and negotiated municipal bond underwritings. This role also supports Fixed Income Sales through new account onboarding, maintenance of electronic trading platforms and CRM systems, and regulatory trade reporting. This hybrid position works closely with internal stakeholders—including Municipal Underwriters, Public Finance Bankers, Salespersons, and Traders—as well as external Municipal Advisors, ensuring compliance with industry standards, securities regulations, and Baird policies and procedures The Impact You'll Make: Conduct detailed reviews of Preliminary Official Statements for competitive and negotiated underwritings, including five-year lookback analyses to verify municipal issuer compliance with continuing disclosure and financial filing requirements. Communicate with external Municipal Advisors and Public Finance Bankers to identify, investigate, and resolve discrepancies in official statements prior to pricing. Open and maintain new Fixed Income Sales accounts across firm systems to support trading activity. Manage departmental system entitlements, including research distribution, trading platforms, and other internal applications. Monitor TRACE and MSRB trade reporting in real time, identify discrepancies, and collaborate with traders and operations teams to resolve reporting errors. Review prior-day activity reports to ensure accuracy and regulatory compliance. Assist with regulatory inquiries, examinations, and audits by gathering documentation, responding to information requests, and supporting issue resolution. Perform additional duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree with 0–3 years of professional experience in financial services, capital markets, public finance, or a related field.
  • FINRA licensed (SIE, Series 7, Series 52, Series 63) or ability to obtain required licenses within one year.
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to identify errors, inconsistencies, and issues in complex financial and regulatory documents.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and time-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while contributing effectively in a team-oriented environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform effectively in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to interact professionally with associates at all levels, management, and external Municipal Advisors.

  • Bloomberg and Salesforce experience a plus.
