About The Position

Under the general direction of the Director of Accounting and/or his/her designee this position will provide excellent customer service for the CSCU fixed asset management department including reconciling, reporting, tracking, and disposal of fixed assets. The Fixed Asset Specialist is responsible for ensuring accuracy and timely processing and participates in the daily operations of fixed asset management.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree and at least 2 years of relevant experience, or Associate Degree and at least 3 years of relevant experience. Credentials and/or experience substantially comparable to the above may also be considered.
  • Incumbents are required to have demonstrated advanced knowledge and abilities in the following:
  • Demonstrated experience using an automated system to process fixed asset transactions.
  • Strong personal computer and business solutions software skills.
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite.
  • Experience working with generally accepted accounting principles and accounting software.
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Good planning and organizational skills to balance and prioritize work.
  • Works well in a team environment.
  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
  • Candidates must possess proven ability to effectively work with culturally, linguistically, and ethnically diverse faculty, staff, and students.
  • They are expected to have excellent interpersonal oral and written communication skills along with strong Information technology literacy skills such as Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams etc.).
  • A valid driver’s license is required.

Responsibilities

  • Perform annual fixed asset perpetual inventory for Connecticut Community Colleges and the System Office
  • Reconcile items that can’t be found and report theft and losses to the appropriate authority
  • Assist campus staff in tagging new items that have been received and validate location
  • Reconcile Banner and eQuip databases
  • Maintain and update bar code readers
  • Coordinate the moving of fixed assets on and between campuses
  • Provide information for annual State CO59 reporting
  • Maintain inventory for controllable assets
  • May assist with other accounting functions, e.g., posting depreciation and validating Construction In Progress (CIP)
  • Identify equipment that is no longer needed on a campus and determine if there is any value within the CSCU system.
  • Assist campus staff in the State surplus process
