About The Position

Quanex is looking for a Fixed Asset Intern to join our team located in Akron, Ohio. The Fixed Asset Analyst Intern will support the Fixed Asset team in managing the company's global fixed asset processes across multiple business segments, ERPs, and manufacturing plants. This role provides hands-on experience in asset accounting, data integrity, system integration, and compliance in a complex multinational manufacturing environment. The intern will collaborate with accounting, plant controllers, operations, and IT teams to ensure accuracy and consistency in the company's fixed asset records and reporting. Requirements

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field.
  • Minimum completion of sophomore-level coursework preferred.
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Detail oriented with focus on accuracy and process improvement.
  • Basic understanding of accounting principles (GAAP).
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications
  • Exposure to ERP systems such as SAP, Oracle, Infor
  • Strong organizational and communication skills with the ability to collaborate across teams.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in maintaining the fixed asset subledger across multiple ERPS and entities.
  • Support the reconciliation of fixed asset records to the general ledger.
  • Help ensure proper capitalization, tagging, and disposal of fixed assets in accordance with company policy and GAAP.
  • Participate in month-end and quarter-end close activities related to depreciation, additions, retirements, and transfers.
  • Assist with asset physical inventory and verification across multiple plan locations.
  • Support integration efforts and data cleansing initiatives related to ERP conversions or system migrations.
  • Prepare and organize supporting documentation for internal and external audits.
  • Assist in process documentation and continuous improvement initiatives for the fixed asset function.
  • Collaborate with plant and corporate finance teams to resolve discrepancies or provide asset-related data as needed.
  • Support special projects and ad-hoc reporting requests as assigned.
  • Work with and support the leasing portfolio in visual lease.
