Requirements

  • Experience with reading drawings, prints, and proficient with tape measure and micrometer.
  • Must currently possess or pass AWS within 90 days
  • Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the US (Nucor will not sponsor the need for a visa now or in the future)
  • Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.

Nice To Haves

  • At least 1-year prior experience in fabrication.

Responsibilities

  • Perform various fit up and tacking operations on a variety of structural assemblies.
  • Interpret weld symbols and follow weld procedures.
  • Add stiffeners, brackets, face plates, etc. using prints for location prior to finish welding.
  • Must use clamps, jigs, tape, square, arc air gouger, cutting torch and plasma as required using judgment to prevent warping and misalignment of component parts.
  • Must be trained to operate jib crane.
  • Maintain necessary records.
  • Detect and report improper operation, faulty equipment, defective materials and unusual conditions to proper supervision.
  • Maintain work area and equipment in a clean and orderly condition.
  • Follow prescribed safety rules and regulations and maintain quality standards.
  • Perform other duties as required.
