About The Position

Perform various fit up and tacking operations on a variety of structural assemblies. Interpret weld symbols and follow weld procedures. Add stiffeners, brackets, face plates, etc. using prints for location prior to finish welding. Must use clamps, jigs, tape, square, arc air gouger, cutting torch and plasma as required using judgment to prevent warping and misalignment of component parts. Must be trained to operate jib crane. Maintain necessary records. Detect and report improper operation, faulty equipment, defective materials and unusual conditions to proper supervision. Maintain work area and equipment in a clean and orderly condition. Follow prescribed safety rules and regulations and maintain quality standards. Perform other duties as required. Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.

Requirements

  • Experience with reading drawings, prints, and proficient with tape measure and micrometer.
  • Must currently possess or pass AWS within 90 days
  • Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the US (Nucor will not sponsor the need for a visa now or in the future)

Nice To Haves

  • At least 1-year prior experience in fabrication.
  • Must have supervisor and/or manager recommendation and must be able to perform all essential functions of the job with or without a reasonable accommodation.
