About The Position

The Fitter position at Nucor involves performing various fit up and tacking operations on a variety of structural assemblies. The role requires interpreting weld symbols and following weld procedures, adding stiffeners, brackets, face plates, etc. using prints for location prior to finish welding. The candidate must use clamps, jigs, tape, square, arc air gouger, cutting torch, and plasma as required, using judgment to prevent warping and misalignment of component parts. Training to operate a jib crane is necessary, and maintaining necessary records is part of the job. The Fitter must detect and report improper operation, faulty equipment, defective materials, and unusual conditions to proper supervision, maintain a clean and orderly work area and equipment, and follow prescribed safety rules and regulations while maintaining quality standards. Other duties may be required as needed.

Requirements

• Experience with reading drawings and prints.
• Proficient with tape measure and micrometer.
• Must currently possess or pass AWS within 90 days.
• Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the US.

• At least 1-year prior experience in fabrication.
