About The Position

FOX is seeking a top caliber Fitness Specialist to join their growing team in the Norwalk, CT area, with a mission to abolish ageism. This position is approximately 5 hours a week with room to grow, involving 1:1s and small groups in senior living settings. Founded in 1998, FOX was the first private practice in the country to provide outpatient rehabilitation services in an in-home setting for the older adult population. The company focuses on rehabilitating lives through evidence-based therapy with innovative and proactive treatment, helping patients restore their quality of life. The Fitness Specialist role involves ensuring patient continuity by prescribing exercise programs to maintain functional levels after discharge from rehabilitation services. FOX provides significant support for its Fitness Specialists through leadership, clinical education, and an assigned Program Manager. FOX is a high-growth, entrepreneurial private practice of physical therapists, occupational therapists, speech therapists, and exercise physiologists, built on the foundation of Geriatric House Calls. They provide evidence-based rehabilitation services in acute, post-acute, home, senior living community, and outpatient settings, offering clinicians autonomy to achieve clinical excellence and professional fulfillment in a supportive culture of respect and hard work.

Requirements

  • Must have one of the following: Bachelors in Exercise Science, Kinesiology or Exercise Physiology
  • Must have one of the following: Certified Personal Trainer through a nationally recognized and accredited organization (i.e., ACSM, NSCA, NASM, ACE, ISSA) OR prior experience as a fitness trainer, with willingness to become a Certified Personal Trainer
  • Routine travel to patient residences and between Senior Living Communities
  • Expand territory as needed
  • Travel as needed per practice requirements
  • CPR Certification
  • Basic computer skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience working with older adults in a proactive and wellness setting

Responsibilities

  • Prescribe exercise programs to patients to maintain functional levels after discharge from rehabilitation services
