We have an exciting opportunity at Skyline, a Transforming Age community. Our Fitness Specialist: Assesses and evaluates senior residents’ needs for exercise and fitness. Works with residents individually and in groups. Plans individual fitness programs for participating residents; Supervises or presents exercise programs that may include exercises in the pool; Assists team members with orientation to Fitness Center, procedures, and policies; Produces promotional materials, newsletters, flyers, etc. as required; Inspects, cleans and maintains equipment; Maintains records of residents’ progress; Assist with collecting data and reports for fitness activities as required Provides in-service trainings as required; Works in collaboration with other professionals to provide appropriate assistance to residents; Performs administrative functions for the department; Promote the Mission, Vision, and Values of Transforming Age in all areas of responsibility; Other duties as assigned or may be necessary in an organization having overlapping roles and responsibilities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in an exercise-related discipline preferred, or the equivalent combination of education and experience (3 or more years of fitness related experience
  • National Fitness Certification required (ACSM preferred, but not required.
  • Experience in prescribing exercise to special populations preferred
  • Must be able to demonstrate proper uses of the exercise equipment
  • Physical Requirements include: Must be able to physically assist in safe exercise and the safe operation of the equipment. Must be able to lift, push, pull up to 75 lbs.
