About The Position

The Fitness Specialist will be working at a retirement community at The Stayton retirement community in Fort Worth, TX , assisting with the day-to-day fitness programs and strategic objectives at the onsite fitness facility. The Fitness Specialist will design fitness programs designated to specific senior populations, conduct group exercise instruction, member orientations, fitness assessments, personal training, fitness floor supervision, and ensure a clean and safe environment for all members with an emphasis on customer service. Hours: Various mid-morning to early afternoon shifts, Tuesday - Saturday (20 hours a week) Additional Earning Opportunity: Ability to build a Personal Training client schedule outside of scheduled hours. Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from a four-year accredited college or university; or two years related experience with fitness training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Must have at least one year of experience working as a fitness professional in either a corporate or commercial fitness facility setting.
  • Professional Fitness Certification from an accredited organization, e.g., Cooper, ACSM, NASM, ACE or similar, or willing to obtain within 60 days of hire and maintained throughout employment.
  • First Aid, CPR and AED certifications must be obtained within 60 days of hire and maintained throughout employment.
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
  • Ability to write simple correspondence effectively and clearly.
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and others within the organization.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • The ability to resolve disagreements and work cohesively with the other party to find an agreeable solution.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percentage and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
  • To perform this job successfully, an individual should have an intermediate mastery of Microsoft Office suite or other administrative software.
  • Knowledge of Paylocity WebTime Payroll systems will be required.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct personal fitness assessments and programs specific to senior population.
  • Instruct small group exercise classes for senior population with varying abilities.
  • Instruct individualized exercise programs tailored to senior population with unique needs with varying abilities.
  • Focus on improving mobility, strength, balance, and overall fitness while considering potential health limitations.
  • Providing encouragement and support to help seniors achieve their fitness goals and maintain an active lifestyle.
  • Conduct fitness facility and equipment orientations.
  • Circulate fitness floor and assist members with safe and affective exercises.
  • Perform daily facility and equipment maintenance checks and cleaning.
  • Maintain work punctuation and attendance on a consistent basis.
  • Must be present on-site to perform the duties of this position.
  • Maintains a positive attitude and teamwork approach.

  • Other duties as assigned by Fitness Manager.
