About The Position

Under general direction from Fitness/Wellness Coordinator, DFC Group Fitness Instructors are responsible for developing and implementing group exercise classes for DFC members. Work Performed/General Duties:  Educate members and enforce policies regarding safe and proper use of equipment in group exercise classes. Motivate members to have a fun and successful class experience through safe movement demonstration at various levels of difficulty. Create classes across multiple formats in accordance with DFC group exercise schedule. Gather and support information on member’s fitness expectations and provide guidance for reaching those goals. Assist the DFC management staff during club special events and recreational programming as required. Work to create a welcoming, vibrant, and all-inclusive environment that promotes safety, quality customer service, and excellence for all ages and abilities.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of class creation, exercise modifications, safety procedures, and use of multiple modalities.
  • Current certification in group exercise instruction by ACE, AFAA, NETA, NASM, IFTA or other nationally recognized organization.
  • Current certification in CPR/AED/First Aid through American Heart Association or American Red Cross only. (Certification must be obtained within 30 days of hiring)
  • Previous experience in teaching multiple class formats.
  • Demonstrated planning and organizational skills, excellent interpersonal skills, high levels of energy, enthusiasm and motivation, maturity, and the ability to collaborate effectively with members and other professional staff.
  • Requires a consistent availability to work at various times of day, days of the week and weekends as well as substitute for other instructors as needed.

  • Previous experience with a wide range of individuals preferred.
