About The Position

The YMCA of Greater Erie is looking to hire a P art-time Fitness Instructor for our Eastside YMCA Location . This role will also support our community by traveling to Active Older Adult (AOA) locations to lead engaging and inclusive fitness classes . We are seeking instructors to lead a variety of classes-particularly Silver Sneakers and Active Older Adult programs , including chair-based formats such as Yoga, Strength, Range of Motion, and Stretch. ( Mileage reimbursement will be provided for travel to off-site and Active Older Adult locations.) A DAY IN THE LIFE OF A FITNESS INSTRUCTOR As a Fitness Instructor, you will Travel to AOA sites to expand access and impact across our community. Lead safe, engaging and inclusive group fitness classes. As sist members in making a healthy lifestyle change. The role of the Fitness Instructor is to provide character development, health education and instruction that will lead to member retention and involvement. Help to improve the health and well-being of the community the YMCA serves. Serve as a role model for a healthy lifestyle and superior "Expect the Best" customer service. Represent the YMCA positively and maintain good and friendly relationship with the YMCA members and staff. Attend all departmental meetings and trainings as scheduled. Attend Training and team meetings. With enthusiasm and compassion, you provide instruction emphasizing connection, safety and proper technique. You are also conscientious about maintaining equipment and ensuring compliance with YMCA standards. Requirements

  • Required certifications: CPR, First Aid and complete YMCA of the USA Principles of Health and Fitness (can be completed upon hire.)
  • Ability to work with individuals of diverse backgrounds and fitness levels
  • This individual must possess a professional image and ability to provide positive feedback, motivation, and encouragement.
  • Strong communication skills and Ability to establish relationships with staff and members within the community of the YMCA
  • The instructor must be able to possess and set an excellent example of health and fitness and member service
  • Ability to respond to safety and emergency situations.
  • Completion of all new employee trainings within the established timeline and related training as available.
  • Must have reliable transportation for travel between locations (mileage reimbursement provided)
