The position involves the instruction of fitness classes, motivating participants of various abilities and fitness levels using physiologically sound and biomechanically safe methods. The instructor will be responsible for operating stereo and microphone equipment, choreographing fitness routines, and adapting exercise instruction to various ages and fitness levels. The role also includes maintaining effective working relationships with team members and the public, as well as cleaning and maintaining locker room facilities and fitness areas.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Background in physical education preferred.
• Experience in exercise, fitness, and aerobics classes is preferred.
• Meeting the continuing education requirements of applicable certification organization is required.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required within six months of hire.
• A fitness certification approved by immediate supervisor is required within one year of hire.

Responsibilities

• Instruct fitness classes and motivate participants of various abilities and fitness levels.
• Operate stereo and microphone equipment for the duration of fitness classes.
• Choreograph fitness routines and class layouts.
• Demonstrate the ability to partake in fitness activities and adapt exercise instruction.
• Manage time effectively to ensure classes run on schedule.
• Establish and maintain effective working relationships with team members and the public.
• Aid in cleaning and maintaining locker room facilities, fitness areas, and pool area.
• Act calmly and effectively in emergency situations.
• Serve as a lifeguard for some classes and shifts, depending on location.
