About The Position

This is a regular student labor position which operates the Fitness Floor and/or Front Desk of the Wellness Center, depending on departmental needs. The position requires heavy, physical and/or manual labor. Employment is per semester.

Requirements

  • Must be enrolled at least half-time for fall/spring semesters (5 hours for graduates, 6 hours for undergraduates).
  • International students must be enrolled full-time (9 credit hours for graduates, 12 credit hours for undergraduates).
  • Must be enrolled in at least 3 credit hours to work during the summer.
  • Current CPR Certification or ability to obtain certification within 90 days of hire.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with fitness center equipment repair and maintenance.
  • Advanced knowledge of Word Processing.

Responsibilities

  • Clean the group fitness room before 8am and before 5pm M-F.
  • Clean windows and mirrors daily in group fitness area, cardio area and free weight area.
  • Vacuum cardio and fitness area daily.
  • Empty trash as needed and take to dumpster daily.
  • Clean equipment bases cardio equipment, strength equipment and free weight machines.
  • Dust all handrails and televisions daily.
  • Spot mop fitness floor daily, mop track on Fridays.
  • Check locker rooms for overflowing trash and remove as necessary.
  • Be familiar with all emergency action plans and first aid procedures (includes a current certification in CPR/AED).
  • Check the ID of everyone entering the gated area of the facility.
  • Enforce all wellness center policies and procedures, exhibiting excellent customer service skills, and a willingness to help others.
  • Answer multi-line telephone, provide information to inquiries, take messages, or direct calls.
  • Check out equipment for use in the facility.
  • Assist patrons with answering questions, providing general university information, and referring to supervisor any issues or concerns.
  • Complete and submit a timecard each payroll period, in a timely manner according to UCO procedures.
  • Perform other various duties as needed or assigned by supervisor.

  • Flexible working hours up to 25 hours per week during fall and spring semesters.
  • Up to 35 hours per week during summer semesters.
