About The Position

Under the general direction of the Wellness Director and consistent with the mission and the policies and procedures set forth by the YMCA of Catawba Valley, the Fitness Floor Attendant/Wellness Staff is responsible for all aspects of instructing, supervising, and reinforcing proper fitness techniques in the Fitness Center. As a member of the professional staff, the Wellness Staff member is a constructive member of the YMCA whose major priority is to serve the members of the YMCA with the highest quality of programming and facilities available. Requirements

  • Personal commitment to YMCA ideals.
  • Knowledge of strength and cardiovascular training principles.
  • First Aid and CPR Certifications as well as AED, required YMCA Health and Wellness Courses within 6 months of employment.
  • A high level of enthusiasm.
  • Strong interpersonal relation skills.
  • Knowledge of emergency policies and procedures for the facility.
  • Understanding of risk management issues and safety requirements for the facility.
  • Must have good communication and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

  • Conducting fitness instruction and orientations
  • Critiquing, educating, and demonstrating proper techniques and form
  • Maintaining a neat, clean, and pleasant environment in the Fitness Center
  • Assisting in the implementation of the YMCA’s Coaching Connection Program when applicable
  • Assisting the Healthy Living Director in the design, implementation, and promotion of programs with the Fitness Center
  • Implement Daxko Engage tools and tasks
  • Promoting YMCA programs and healthy living through personal example and member interaction
  • Insuring that all members are following rules, educating members on new information regarding fitness and related topics
  • Attending scheduled Fitness Center staff meetings
  • Any other duties assigned by the Wellness Director, Manager on Duty, or Executive Director.
  • All YMCA staff are responsible for creating a safe, inclusive environment. This includes following all YMCA policies and procedures related to abuse prevention, reporting concerns or incidents immediately, and maintaining appropriate boundaries with youth and members.
