Midtown Athletic Club & Hotel is looking for a Fitness Equipment Technician to join our facilities team in Chicago (2444 N. Elston Ave.). Requirements

  • Knowledge of the principles, standard practices, methods, tools, equipment, and materials needed to safely perform preventative maintenance, inspections, and repairs on fitness equipment.
  • Knowledge of occupational hazards and safety precautions of the work being performed.
  • Skill in repairing machines or systems using the appropriate tools; performing routine maintenance on equipment and determining when and what kind of maintenance is needed.
  • Skill in determining causes of operating errors and deciding what actions to take and conducting tests and inspections of equipment to evaluate quality or performance.
  • Ability to evaluate, troubleshoot, and repair equipment; read and comprehend manufacturer's manuals and instructions; and visually inspect and monitor equipment when in operation and adjust when necessary.
  • Completion of training or demonstrated experience in maintaining brand-specific fitness equipment (e.g. Precor, Life Fitness).
  • Ability to safely enter confined spaces, lift heavy objects and perform other physically demanding tasks as needed.
  • Safely and skillfully use all types of related hand and power tools.
  • This is a union position - must be a member of or willing to join Local 399.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and perform preventive maintenance and inspection of fitness equipment using an established schedule and following manufacturer’s recommendations, applicable guidelines, and procedures.
  • Transport, move, assemble, and install fitness equipment machines and accessories; calibrate and test equipment to meet manufacturer specifications and ensure optimal operation.
  • Assist in ordering and maintaining inventory of replacement parts and supplies.
  • Prepare and maintain complete, accurate, and concise reports, records, and logs relating to fitness equipment preventative maintenance and repair.
  • Evaluate, troubleshoot, analyze, and identify fitness equipment malfunctions and makes necessary adjustments and repairs adhering to manufacturer specifications.
  • Coordinate service calls and provides on-site assistance to manufacturer representatives or service technicians.
  • Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
