About The Position

The Fitness Director leads a team of fitness professionals in providing 5-star service to all Villa Sport members in the fitness center and in delivering high quality fitness training services, small group training programs, and educational seminars that help members achieve their health and personal goals. The Fitness Director ensures that all members feel knowledgeable and comfortable in the fitness center and that all Fitness Staff are genuinely friendly, outgoing, approachable, helpful and credible. The Fitness Director ensures that new members are properly integrated so they can exercise effectively and safely, are informed about all the program offerings and complimentary services available and are advised as to the fitness programs and services that would best meet their needs and goals. The Fitness Director is responsible for achieving or exceeding departmental budget expectations and for ensuring that all fitness equipment is properly maintained, operational and safe.

Requirements

  • Club and/or hospitality industry experience (high-end, resort-style, family-oriented facilities) preferred
  • Relationship-based selling/servicing skills and training/presentation skills
  • Word, Excel and PowerPoint basic proficiency
  • Budgeting and analysis skills
  • In customer engagement and retention
  • In directing a revenue-generating department or business
  • In managing and achieving a budget
  • In leading a team of 25+ people (2 years minimum preferred)
  • In developing and delivering educational workshops and seminars
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; great listening skills
  • Comfortable with striking up conversations with members, with approaching members at the club, with providing advice and assistance, with calling members on the phone, and with handling and resolving member complaints
  • Excellent customer service and people skills
  • Skilled at rapport and relationship-building
  • Calm under fire; maintains composure
  • Healthy lifestyle habits
  • First Aid/CPR certification required prior to hire date
  • Occasional bending and kneeling, and infrequent lifting of weights up to 50 lbs.
  • Frequent standing, walking, reaching.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge and expertise in individual and group training protocols and standards; current fitness trends; and anatomy/physiology (a plus but not required)
  • College Degree preferred
