About The Position

The Fitness Coordinator is responsible to make a compelling difference in the lives of our residents through providing excellence and innovation in physical wellness that support an active lifestyle. Implements a fitness and aquatic program including health assessments, personal training, coaching, one-on-one training, and group exercise. Conducts fitness programs in a safe and responsible manner, to enhance the health, physical and emotional well-being of the residents of The Loomis Communities.

Requirements

  • High School graduate
  • Minimum of 5 years working with seniors in physical fitness
  • Certification in personal training from National Academy of Sports Medicine required
  • CPR/AED current certification required.

Nice To Haves

  • Undergraduate degree in exercise science, sports management or related field
  • Experience in overseeing fitness center/pool preferred
  • Willing to get Certification in aquatic fitness/water fitness

Responsibilities

  • Performs job functions in a manner consistent with the mission and goals of the Loomis Communities.
  • Adheres to The Loomis Communities Compliance and Ethics Program.
  • Demonstrates an awareness of, a respect for and attention to the diversity of the people with whom they interact.
  • Conducts needs assessments to determine interest in, or satisfaction with, wellness and fitness and aquatic programs, events or services.
  • Responds to emergency situations and provides basic first aid care when needed within the limits of training and the policies of The Loomis Communities.
  • Demonstrates proper operation of fitness equipment, such as resistance machines, cardio machines, free weights or fitness assessment devices.
  • Maintains equipment and assists with orientation and training of new residents on fitness center equipment.
  • Provides personal training services to residents with follow up training sessions as requested by residents.
  • Designs and leads individual and group exercises, including aquatics and creates new programs as needs/request change.
  • Works in collaboration with the resident fitness subgroup, Health Services Director, Resident Services team to create opportunities for residents to maximize their pursuit of an active and engaging lifestyle.
  • Offers opportunities for residents to connect with the greater community in pursuing wellness activities.
  • Participates in resident wellness meetings.
  • Offers presentations to residents and team members as needed.
