About The Position

Under the supervision of the Healthy Living Coordinator, fitness attendants maintain a welcoming environment for all by engaging with members, maintaining clean workout rooms and support members in achieving their health and well-being goals. Fitness attendants create a welcoming environment for all members of all backgrounds and abilities.

Requirements

  • High school diploma
  • Experience and/or education in the wellness field.
  • Basic knowledge of fitness equipment.
  • Physical ability to lead and interact in fitness activities and perform related physical fitness skills.
  • Possess and maintain current CPR, AED and First Aid Certification.
  • Full working knowledge of facility safety and emergency procedures.
  • CANDIDATES MUST BE AVAILABLE: Sundays: 7-11am or 12-5pm Tuesdays: 6-10pm Thursdays: 6-10pm Available for occasional open shifts outside of the above schedule

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's Degree preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor fitness rooms, basketball gymnasium, racquetball courts to maintain a neat and orderly environment by ensuring equipment is returned to its proper location after use.
  • Clean Fitness Center equipment and maintains all areas clean and staged.
  • Perform equipment checks and ensure appropriate equipment is available as needed
  • Monitor functionality of Fitness Center equipment and report equipment needing repair to Healthy Living Coordinator.
  • Create a safe environment by being aware of your surroundings and monitoring members to ensure they are performing exercises correctly, are dressed appropriately, are being respectful to other members and following all Fitness Center room guidelines.
  • Answers questions from members to support them in achieving their goals related to healthy living.
  • Maintains working knowledge of wellness and trends to provide effective information and support to members.
  • Engages with members in a friendly manner: greets, welcomes, provides assistance or direction
  • Assist members in proper use of equipment and ensuring safety of members
  • Conducts New Member Orientations, InBody Assessments, Kinotek Assessments as requested.
  • Be visible and accessible while on duty
  • Attends all department and staff meetings.
  • Must have good communication skills and ability to build relationships.
  • Must be familiar with and prepared to use emergency procedures.
  • Demonstrate and enforce the core values (Caring, Honesty, Respect and Responsibility) to staff, YMCA members, program participants, volunteers, and the general public.
  • Know, follow and understand all guidelines and policies of the facility.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
