About The Position

This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit, charitable organization committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. Supports the maintenance and repair of fitness and audio-visual equipment across YMCA facilities. Ensures equipment is safe, functional, and properly maintained in accordance with YMCA policies and OSHA guidelines.

Requirements

  • Minimum age of 18 years old.
  • 1–2 years of experience in mechanical or electrical repair preferred.
  • Basic knowledge of electrical schematics and mechanical systems.
  • Working knowledge of OSHA guidelines.
  • Current CPR PRO & First Aid certifications preferred.
  • Valid Driver’s License

Responsibilities

  • Perform scheduled and unscheduled maintenance on fitness and audio-visual equipment across YMCA facilities.
  • Identify and assess equipment malfunctions using basic diagnostic tools and techniques. Communicate findings clearly to the Manager and assist in determining appropriate repair solutions.
  • Assist with the setup and installation of new fitness and A/V equipment, including assembling components, connecting electrical systems, and testing functionality.
  • Monitor and report inventory levels of tools, parts, and supplies. Ensure proper use and storage of maintenance materials and maintain organized workspaces.
  • Follow all YMCA safety protocols and OSHA guidelines during maintenance tasks. Immediately report any safety hazards, equipment failures, or incidents to the Manager.
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, repairs, and inspections. Complete incident and accident reports as required.
  • Interact professionally with staff and members, responding to equipment-related concerns and providing basic guidance on safe usage when appropriate.
  • Be familiar with emergency procedures and respond appropriately to incidents involving equipment or facility safety.
  • Wear approved uniform at all times.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Manager.
