About The Position

The Fish and Wildlife District Manager will supervise fisheries management related activities in the Southeast District. This role involves guiding the planning, implementation, and completion of fish population surveys and habitat assessments. The manager will coordinate and collaborate on various projects including fish renovation, aquatic habitat, angler access, motorboat access, broodstock collection, fish stocking, and research projects on district waters. Utilizing data collections, the manager will develop management plans and provide amendment recommendations for fisheries regulations/orders. Additionally, the manager will oversee projects to evaluate management strategy implementations such as stocking, regulation changes, and habitat manipulation. The position also includes supervising permanent and temporary employees, developing staff priorities, performance objectives, and goals, and maintaining compliance with federal aid guidelines. The manager will oversee the inventory and maintenance of district equipment, boats, and vehicles, and coordinate activities with division staff, other agency divisions, and partner agencies. Promoting division activities and establishing professional relationships with government agencies and natural resource entities is also a key responsibility.
