About The Position

As the Fiscal Specialist 2, you will perform a variety of complex, fiscal administrative functions and works collaboratively with staff, students and external partners regarding Center for Student Organizations & Leadership (CSOL), Student Entertainment Board (SEB), Graduate & Professional Student Association (GPSA), the Associated Students of Washington State University (ASWSU) and Center for Civic Engagement on related purchasing, travel, travel grants and scholarships, as well as processing travel for student Media and the CougarCard Center. Your duties include, but are not limited to: Interpreting and monitoring University policies and guiding students and staff in day-to-day operations such as; initiating travel documents and approvals, facilitates travel arrangements (Motor Pool reservations, airfare itineraries, lodging accommodations, rental cars) for students, staff, candidates, and performers. Processes expense reports and guides employees, students and candidates through reimbursement process , processing accounts payable, preparing journal entries, correcting coding errors, processing travel grants, scholarships and sponsorships, reconciling multiple department purchasing cards, reconciles department Central Travel Account, prepares month end statements for multiple department purchasing cards and department Central Travel Account, managing the GPSA travel grant budget and act as informational resource on proper Washington State University (WSU) policy and department processes.

Requirements

  • Two years of experience at a level equivalent to Fiscal Specialist 1 AND 15 quarter hours OR 10 semester hours of college level accounting; OR equivalent education/experience.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral.

Nice To Haves

  • Professional work experience in higher education.
  • Strong work experience with Windows/Microsoft Office applications, web-based communication, and data base management.
  • 2 years of work experience working with WSU systems.
  • Strong interest in the student experience at WSU.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with a wide range of campus and community partners.
