About The Position

The UF Health Cancer Institute is the 72nd NCI designated cancer center and the only one at a public university in the State of Florida. As a matrix cancer center, we span all of the University of Florida's 16 colleges, pulling together a world-class, multi-disciplinary membership of over 350 faculty and 150 staff to address the challenges of the cancer burden faced by the population we serve as we work together to find a cure. As a Fiscal Assistant at the UF Health Cancer Institute (UFHCI), you will be responsible for maintaining timely and accurate financial processing, compliance with University policies, and support of ongoing fiscal activities across UFHCI divisions. A high level of professionalism and confidentiality is necessary for success in this role. In your new role you will be responsible for the following: Process and support a variety of financial transactions, including purchasing, payments, and account activity Ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance of financial documentation in accordance with Center, College, and University policies Communicate and collaborate with internal stakeholders, vendors, and support teams to resolve financial and payment-related issues Generate and review financial reports to support tracking, reconciliation, and decision-making Maintain and update financial data across systems to ensure data integrity Provide support, troubleshooting, and guidance on financial processes, escalating issues as appropriate This is an entry to experienced level position, ideal for candidates with ideal for candidates with an interest in furthering their career in finance at the University of Florida and experience working with large complex budgets and state reporting. Requirements

  • Fiscal Assistant II: High school diploma or equivalent and three years of general accounts transaction experience. Appropriate college course work or vocational/technical training may substitute at an equivalent rate for required experience.
  • Fiscal Assistant III: High school diploma or equivalent and five years of general accounts transaction experience. Appropriate college course work or vocational/technical training may substitute at an equivalent rate for the required experience.
  • Fiscal Assistant II Knowledge/Experience: One or more years of relevant fiscal, accounting, or financial support experience
  • Foundational knowledge of fiscal processes, accounting principles, and financial transactions
  • Experience supporting or processing basic financial activities (e.g., purchasing, payments, invoicing, or account monitoring)
  • Skills/Abilities: Strong attention to detail, organization, and ability to manage multiple tasks accurately
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work independently and collaboratively
  • Ability to apply problem-solving and critical thinking skills to routine fiscal issues, seeking guidance as needed
  • Fiscal Assistant III Knowledge/Experience: 3–5 years of relevant fiscal or accounting experience, including experience supporting financial operations
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles and experience working with financial systems (e.g., PeopleSoft or similar)
  • Experience managing and reconciling financial activities, with exposure to reporting and data analysis
  • Skills/Abilities: Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills with the ability to manage complex fiscal matters
  • Excellent organizational, time management, and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple priorities independently
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate professionally and provide guidance to stakeholders

  • Fiscal Assistant II Knowledge/Experience: Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, or a related field or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience
  • Experience with enterprise financial systems such as PeopleSoft (Financials and/or Grants modules)
  • Familiarity with university, state, or healthcare-related fiscal policies and procedures
  • Qualities: Professionalism, integrity, and strong customer service orientation

  • Experience supporting fiscal operations at the University of Florida or within a similar large, complex organization
  • Experience with PeopleSoft Financials and/or Grants modules and budget administration (BA) tools
  • Familiarity with UF and State accounting principles, policies, and procedures
  • Qualities: Strong customer service orientation with professionalism, integrity, and sound judgment
  • Proactive, resourceful, and forward-thinking with a strong desire to learn and improve processes
  • Ability to build and maintain effective working relationships with diverse stakeholders
  • Skills/Abilities: Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office (especially Excel) and other financial systems
  • Ability to analyze data, generate reports, and ensure data accuracy and integrity across systems
  • Ability to advise on and resolve both routine and complex fiscal issues, escalating as appropriate
