The Fiscal Analyst is responsible for assisting in providing financial insights, preparing financial reports, leading the budget proposal development process and supporting decision-making across various departments within the organization. The Fiscal Analyst plays a critical role in supporting the financial health and accountability of the organization. This position is responsible for budget development, financial analysis, grant tracking, and reporting across programs and departments. The ideal candidate will provide actionable insights through budget-to-actual comparisons, trend analysis, and program-level reporting, while ensuring compliance with grant requirements and supporting audit processes.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance, required
  • At least two (2) years of relevant professional experience in financial analysis, accounting, or a similar field
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (including formulas, pivot tables, and financial modeling)
  • Required to submit to a level II background screening through the DCF Clearinghouse
  • Strictly enforces a Drug-Free Workplace Policy, which prohibits the use, possession, distribution, or sale of controlled substances and alcohol on company premises, during work hours, or while representing the company. Pre-employment and random drug testing may be required.
  • All Full-Time staff members are required to attend and work from start to end, JCS' Milk and Honey, Matzah Mitzvah and other similar events, which are typically held on Sundays and/or evenings.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the budgeting process in collaboration with program, fiscal and department leaders
  • Develop detailed program and departmental budgets aligned with organizational goals and funding requirements
  • Monitor and update budgets regularly to reflect changes in funding, operations, and priorities
  • Prepare JCS and Masada annual budget by Department, by fund allocation including Budget amendments
  • Conduct in-depth program financial analysis to assess efficiency, sustainability, and impact
  • Analyze financial performance across departments, identifying risks and opportunities
  • Provide recommendations to improve cost management and resource allocation
  • Prepare and distribute monthly and quarterly budget-to-actual variance reports
  • Prepare monthly closing package for Controller and Sr Management
  • Investigate and explain significant variances, offering corrective action recommendations
  • Partner with managers to improve financial performance and accountability
  • Monitor grant expenditures to ensure proper allocation and compliance with funding requirements
  • Identify and report on unspent or overspent grant balances
  • Collaborate with program teams to optimize grant utilization and avoid funding risks
  • Support specific grants as GBS backup, as needed
  • Analyze financial trends across programs and departments to support strategic decision-making
  • Develop forecasts based on historical data, funding pipelines, and operational changes
  • Present insights to leadership in a clear and actionable format
  • Prepare monthly and quarterly Profit & Loss (P&L) statements at both program and departmental levels
  • Ensure accurate allocation of revenues and expenses across funding sources
  • Support leadership with financial insights to guide program performance
  • Assist in preparing for annual audits, including documentation and schedules
  • Ensure compliance with nonprofit accounting standards and grant regulations
  • Respond to auditor inquiries and support implementation of audit recommendations
