About The Position
As a Fiscal Analyst 4 at the Department of Enterprise Services (DES), you will play a crucial role in managing state tax deductions, applications, and calculations for DES and all agencies supported by DES payroll. The Finance Division, where this role is situated, provides essential accounting and budget services to DES and 40 smaller state agencies, ensuring that our customers can make informed business decisions and achieve their financial health goals. In this role, you will utilize advanced analytical skills to interpret and apply payroll guidelines and regulations from multiple states, the federal government, and the Office of Financial Management (OFM). You will be responsible for ensuring the accuracy of state and federal tax reporting, educating payroll staff on changes to rules, laws, and policies, and establishing DES with a business profile in applicable states. This includes registering for all necessary tax reporting mechanisms state-by-state and ensuring compliance with tax reporting and filing requirements. You will also participate in statewide workgroups related to out-of-state reporting and act as a consultant for Small Agency Financial Services (SAFS) clients to help them establish business profiles in applicable states. Your responsibilities will encompass reviewing, processing, monitoring, and analyzing routine payroll functions within the Payroll Unit, ensuring adherence to compliance with various regulations. You will be expected to maintain in-depth knowledge and expertise in state and federal reporting, ensuring that staff is trained in appropriate payroll methods and procedures regarding state reporting.
