About The Position

The internship position at Great American Insurance Group's Financial Institution Services Division (FIS) offers an opportunity for students to gain practical experience in the insurance industry, specifically within the claims process. The intern will provide project and administrative support to the claims staff, manage documentation, and learn to utilize various claims systems and databases. This role is designed for individuals who are currently pursuing a degree in Business or a related field and are looking to develop their skills in a professional environment.

Requirements

• Must be currently enrolled in an accredited college or university with an overall GPA of 3.0 or higher, pursuing a degree in Business or related discipline
• Ability to work a minimum of 16 hours a week during business hours, with the opportunity for additional hours during the Summer and school breaks
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office including Excel, Word, and Outlook
• Proven leadership skills through work experience (prior internship/co-ops), campus involvement, and/or extracurricular activities
• Superior communication, analytical, planning, and organizing skills
• Self-motivated, as the nature of the internship may have virtual aspects

Responsibilities

• Provide project and administrative support to FIS Claims staff
• Manage multiple incoming documents mailboxes, adding supporting documentation and vendor reports to electronic claim files
• Review, enter, and pay vendor invoices within authority level
• Prepare and send letters to appropriate parties
• Learn and perform functions utilizing claims system, databases, and various other programs
• Participate in special projects as assigned
