First Mate – Airboat Tour Facility
About The Position
We are seeking dependable and motivated First Mates to join our airboat tour operations. This role is ideal for individuals who enjoy working outdoors, interacting with guests, and being part of a fast-paced team environment. In business since 1923, Camp Holly has a long standing history and is a premiere Airboat ride facility. We also take pride in being one of the oldest fish camps in Florida! Today we offer fun for the whole family – We have a Gift shop, Tiki bar, Restaurant, Live music on the weekends, and Airboat tours through the St. Johns River! It began as a Fishing Camp by Mr. Bob Walls, He was a Georgia native and a son of a market hunter. Walls established Camp Holly in early 1901 on the edge of the St. Johns River, Where it intersects with the Kissimmee Highway the small 2 Lane Rd. between Melbourne and Kissimmee. It’s known as US 192, but the camp is still called Camp Holly today making it currently over 122 years old and qualifying for the Florida historic registry.
Requirements
- Must be reliable, punctual, and professional
- Able to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
- Comfortable working around boats and water
- Must be able to pass a drug test
- Must meet all qualifications required to be listed in our drug consortium
- Must be First Aid certified (certification available online if not currently certified)
- Able to stand for extended periods of time
- Able to walk on uneven, wet, or slippery surfaces
- Able to lift and carry up to 150 pounds
- Able to climb in and out of airboats repeatedly throughout the day
- Capable of bending, stooping, reaching, and kneeling as needed
- Must have sufficient vision, hearing, and mobility to ensure guest safety
Nice To Haves
- Previous boating or tour experience is preferred
- Must be coast guard safety certified
Responsibilities
- Assist the airboat captain during tours
- Ensure guest safety and comfort
- Help with boarding and unloading passengers
- Provide friendly customer service and basic tour support
- Assist with general dock and boat operations as needed
