The Issue Management Sr. Manager is a senior leader within the First Line Risk & Control Office, accountable for the First Line of Defense (FLoD) Issue Management Program. The role oversees the end-to-end issue lifecycle (identification, assessment, remediation, validation, and reporting and drives consistent governance, metrics, and executive reporting. Success in this position typically requires deep financial services controls experience, strong stakeholder management across all lines of businesses and the ability to deliver sustainable improvements to the firm’s control environment. Drive proactive and timely identification, management, and oversight of issues per firm requirements Identification of thematic root causes underlying control failure/s and facilitating the planning and execution of effective remediation of control gaps Collaborate with stakeholders to resolve roadblocks and facilitate solutioning with senior leaders Development, implementation, maintenance and management of the Issue Management application (System of Record) Design and implement of issue management reporting for senior leadership to identify trends, emerging risks, and actionable items in the risk and controls environment Liaise within the organization to ensure connectivity with enterprise-wide issue management efforts to enhance Western Alliance safety and soundness Development of strong relationships with key stakeholders Proactive engagement with control functions to ensure understanding of the First Line of Defense governance program Focus on continuous control improvements across all areas to enable the evolutionary design of the overall control framework in an efficient, cost effective, streamlined, and value-add manner
