The position of First Line Leader PBU involves providing visible and active leadership in delivering excellent safety results, participating as a member of a business unit, and reporting and communicating safety and performance measurements against objectives. You will conduct one-to-one developmental discussions and coach employees to accomplish team goals, provide direct support for and participation in the mill's structured cost reduction efforts, and lead and deliver results through GMS based processes and systems. Additionally, you will maintain strong relationships with other Power Business Unit personnel and enforce corrective actions to address problems. You will coordinate training and development for the crew, actively use and improve upon existing systems for managing daily operations, and initiate and facilitate problem solving. Understanding and promoting Manufacturing Excellence tools and processes, supporting the 5S program, and providing support for capital project development and implementation are also key responsibilities.

Requirements

  • 3 or more years of experience in the Pulp and Paper industry is required
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or equivalent practice experience is preferred
  • Must be experienced in using a computer and skilled in word processing, spreadsheet programs (Microsoft Excel), SAP business systems and other databases

Responsibilities

  • Provide visible and active leadership in delivering excellent safety results
  • Participate as a member of a business unit
  • Report and communicate safety and performance measurements against objectives
  • Conduct one to one developmental discussions and coach employees to accomplish team goals
  • Provide direct support for and participation in the mill's structured cost reduction efforts/teams
  • Lead and deliver results through GMS based processes and systems
  • Maintain strong relationships with other Power Business Unit personnel as well as operating and maintenance department leaders
  • Enforce corrective actions to address problems
  • Coordinate training and development for crew
  • Actively use and improve upon existing systems for managing daily operations
  • Initiate and facilitate problem solving (TCC)
  • Understand and promote Manufacturing Excellence tools and processes
  • Support 5S program for the area and drive improvement projects, audit systems, and excellent results
  • Provide support for capital project development and implementation
  • Implement systems to improve/sustain results
  • Provide support for budgeting cycle targeted at delivering year over year savings
  • Facilitate the implementation of new procedures and controls required by the change in facilities, products, and corporate policies and procedures
