About The Position

The First Grade Classroom Teacher is responsible for organizing and implementing an instructional program for students in a regular classroom setting. Requirements

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited university.
• Valid North Carolina Teaching License in the subject area.

Responsibilities

• Designing the academic education program consistent with the district's educational philosophy.
• Continuing professional growth through educational meetings and literature.
• Coordinating with other teachers and departments in program development.
• Preparing educational plans based on assessed needs of students.
• Using assessment instruments to evaluate student progress.
• Preparing lesson plans for assigned groups or classes.
• Maintaining a classroom environment conducive to effective learning.
• Providing varied instructional techniques to meet students' needs.
• Taking precautions to protect students and materials.
• Participating in staffing and screening processes as appropriate.
• Assisting in upholding school rules and policies.
• Assisting in the selection of instructional materials.
• Engaging in ongoing professional growth activities.
• Ensuring evaluation records for each student are maintained.
• Evaluating student progress and providing feedback to students and parents.
• Supplying progress reports as necessary.
• Completing reports for educational agencies.
• Referring students needing further evaluation to appropriate personnel.
• Attending faculty meetings and other required meetings.
