About The Position

The First Article Inspector to support aerospace manufacturing operations by performing comprehensive First Article Inspections (FAI) in accordance with AS9102 requirements. This role ensures that manufactured parts, assemblies, and processes fully comply with engineering drawings, specifications, and customer requirements prior to production release. Must have strong experience in aerospace inspection, blueprint reading, and documentation, with a deep understanding of quality systems and regulatory compliance standards.

Requirements

• Strong understanding of AS9100 quality management systems
• Thorough knowledge of AS9102 First Article Inspection requirements
• Proficiency in blueprint reading and GD&T interpretation
• Understanding of tolerance stack analysis principles
• Familiarity with special processes such as NADCAP-accredited processes, heat treat, coatings, and NDT
• Knowledge of material certifications and full traceability requirements
• Working knowledge of ERP/MRP systems
• Understanding of FAA-regulated manufacturing environments
• Exceptional attention to detail
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• High level of accuracy and documentation discipline
• Effective cross-functional communication skills
• Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks
• Organizational and time management skills
• Commitment to regulatory compliance and quality standards
• Minimum of 3+ years of aerospace inspection experience (FAI experience strongly preferred)
• High school diploma or equivalent required
• U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident
• Candidates "must/may need" to be able to obtain and maintain a DoD Security Clearance
• Successful candidates must be able to secure Program Access approval

Nice To Haves

• Experience in precision machining or complex aerospace assemblies preferred
• Internal audit experience a plus
• Technical certification in Quality, Manufacturing, or related field preferred

Responsibilities

• Perform First Article Inspections (FAI) in accordance with AS9102 requirements
• Review engineering drawings, specifications, and customer requirements to validate compliance
• Complete AS9102 Forms 1, 2, and 3 with full traceability documentation
• Verify dimensional, material, and special process requirements
• Ensure certification documentation (Certificates of Conformance, material certifications, special process certifications) is complete and accurate
• Conduct detailed inspections using precision measuring tools (calipers, micrometers, height gauges, bore gauges, etc.)
• Review CMM reports to validate dimensional compliance
• Coordinate with Manufacturing Engineering, Production, and Quality teams to resolve discrepancies
• Support corrective action investigations (RCCA/8D) as required
• Maintain accurate inspection records in compliance with AS9100 quality standards
• Participate in internal and external audits as needed
• Promote adherence to aerospace regulatory and customer-specific requirements
