About The Position

Collins Aerospace, an RTX company, is a world leader in advanced communication systems and is responsible for providing products to all branches of the US military. The Protected Communications Systems Hardware Engineering Department is seeking a motivated and driven Firmware Engineering Intern to join our team at the Marlborough, MA location. As a Firmware Engineering Intern, you will be a member of an Integrated Program Team (IPT) creating solutions using Field Programmable Gate Arrays (FPGAs), System on Chip (SOC), and Complex Programmable Logic Devices (CPLDs).

Requirements

  • Requires a High School Diploma or equivalent and student must be pursuing a Bachelor’s or advanced degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering.
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required
  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance

Nice To Haves

  • Coursework, projects, or experience with FPGAs, VHDL, and SystemVerilog
  • Technical experience through prior internships
  • Programming experience with C, MATLAB, and scripting languages
  • Prior leadership experience
  • Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office Products
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Self-motivated and demonstrates history of working well in a team environment
  • Strong interest in the firmware design process

Responsibilities

  • Register Transaction Level (RTL) design of components used in configurable logic devices
  • Testbench development and simulation using Universal Verification Methodology (UVM)
  • Generation and updates of engineering documentation
  • Constraint creation for FPGAs, SoCs, and CPLDs
  • Document and code reviews
  • Test and Evaluation of product hardware and evaluation boards using lab equipment
