Astera Labs is seeking a Firmware Engineer to lead the design and development of embedded firmware for cutting-edge SoC connectivity products tailored for AI and Cloud infrastructure. This role is pivotal in enabling next-generation SoC and systems product that power high-performance computing platforms. As such, firmware is considered equally important to the hardware, and the firmware team is often customer-facing accordingly to ensure the needs of the customer are fully comprehended. This position may be hired at multiple levels, from Engineer (Level 1) through Senior Engineer (Level 2) , depending on experience and qualifications. This role will be required onsite.

  • Interpret technical specifications and develop robust, low-level C code in bare-metal or RTOS environments.
  • Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and external partners to deliver weekly firmware releases and feature demonstrations.
  • Strong debugging skills and ability to triage and resolve issues in complex embedded systems.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field.
  • 2+ years of hands-on experience in embedded firmware development using C.
  • Exposure in low-level firmware for hardware bring-up, traffic enablement, or RAS (Reliability, Availability, Serviceability) feature implementation.
  • Working with high-speed interfaces and protocols such as PCIe, CXL, DDR, and I2C is a plus.
