Firmware Engineer I (Advanced Development), Hague Road Technical Center, Indianapolis, Indiana Allegion is looking for a passionate Firmware Engineer to work as part of a highly engaged small team within a global organization of 12,000+ employees, representing 30+ brands (including Schlage, Von Duprin and LCN) focused on safety, security and access management. You’ll work on solutions that will enable seamless access and help keep you and your loved ones safe and secure where they work, live and thrive. Qualified candidates must be legally authorized to be employed in the United States. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related field.
  • Proven experience in firmware development for embedded systems.
  • Proficiency in embedded C development and industry‑standard tools (IDEs, version control, oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, etc.).
  • Solid engineering fundamentals, diverse technical experience, and strong analytic/problem‑solving skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Passion for developing IoT solutions spanning electronics hardware, mobile apps (iOS/Android), and cloud technologies.
  • Experience with wireless technologies such as WiFi, BLE, UWB and Thread.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, debug, and document reusable firmware for embedded systems.
  • Work across multiple firmware layers—from low‑level drivers to application protocols.
  • Develop support documentation and unit test cases.
  • Optimize firmware performance and memory utilization.
  • Collaborate with firmware engineers and project leads in a hybrid work environment.
  • Support hardware design and integration activities.
  • Partner with cross‑functional engineering, manufacturing, and product test teams.
