About The Position

The Fires Concepts Specialist will: Develop Concept Documents: Be part of working group(s) to write and draft revisions to Fires Concepts Document including Fires Functional Appraisement, Future Capability Workbooks, and Concept of Operations documents. The Contractor shall develop and present briefings associated with these Concept Documents.  Develop, Refine and Draft CONOP Documents: Develop, refine and draft Concepts of Operations (CONOP) documents. Incorporating feedback and input from key stakeholders throughout the development of the CONOP. Develop, Refine and Draft CONOP Documents: Review and comment on other concept documents, draft field manuals, white papers and other draft capability development documents to support current and future capabilities development efforts. The Contractor shall consolidate inputs, prepare reports, and submit recommendations to division leadership for approval. Participate in Weekly Updates: Participate in weekly updates during branch/division meetings providing updates on current efforts. Support Learning Events as a Fires SME: Attend weekly meetings, missing no more than one (1) meeting in a month. Updates on assigned efforts provided one (1) working day prior to the meetings. No more than one (1) deficiency in a month. Support Learning Events as a Fires SME: Participate in learning events, such as wargames, experiments, TTXs, seminars, Threat Based Assessments, as a Fires SME. Provide input to and draft operational scenarios and learning demands for use in experimentation and other learning venues. Participate in preparation events including planning meetings and action officer level working groups.

Requirements

  • Must have at a minimum 15 years’ experience within the DoD. This experience must include as a minimum: ten (10) years’ experience in Field Artillery or Air Defense Artillery units/organizations.
  • Must have a Minimum of two (2) years’ experience in the development, review and staffing of Field Artillery or Air Defense Artillery related documents and publications. Possess the ability to effectively communicate conceptual ideas in writing and orally articulate thoughts to support the development of Army and Fires concepts.
  • Must have a bachelor’s degree. (otherwise, qualified candidates working towards completion of a degree may be acceptable)
  • Must possess a SECRET security clearance at time contract award (or time of hiring if the individual is not already employed at time of award).
